The end of summer

We finished the summer by getting to go to DC to visit Katie and her new hubby and Ben and his family.  We took a 2 day trip to visit my lovely New York.  I saw "my" lovely NY, because it was such a treat to get to show Scott my version of the city - where I lived, where I went to school, my favorite places to eat and to visit - tell him all my crazy roommate stories and crazy NYU professor stories, oh my.   It was so weird because I felt like nothing had changed - even the security guard at the front desk of the Steinhardt building at NYU was the same!  And he acted like he remembered me because he let me in without an ID.  Or maybe he's just been there too long and doesn't care anymore who gets in.  Or maybe the fact I had a baby strapped to me made me look very unthreatening:) I also collected some stuff I've had in storage in NY for 5 years.  It's just too weird to close a door, and open in 5 years later with a husband and a baby, and NOTHING has changed.  The only thing that HAD changed, was that I saw the city for what it was, rather than for what I hoped it held for my life....

Crew was sooooo good.  He just put his little feet up on the stroller and took it all in, he is such a sweetie.  EVERYONE talked to him.

National Cathedral, we are dorks.

Lincoln Monument.  Scott and I left Crew sleeping at Katie's late one night, and jogged around the monuments.  They are so beautiful at night, all lit up, without the crowds, and it was cool outside.

Cupcakes with Katie.  I'm always up for a good cupcake.

Wright brothers airplane - Smithsonian.

We got to drive into Charlottesville VA to visit Ben's family and see where Katie is starting grad school (she and Ben are both at UVA).  We got to take little Cameron to Monticello and to a peach farm.
